Rice is great. Pretty much everyone loves rice. Goes with almost anything, from stir fries, to curries, to tacos, to chillies. Simple to make. Filling. And cheap. But now and again we need to mix things up a bit. Throw in a few spices and you’ve got some amazingly tasty yellow rice.
- 2 cups of basmati rice
- 4 cups of water
- Pinch of salt
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 star anise
- 1 teaspoon of turmeric
- Put everything in a large pot and bring to the boil.
- Once boiling, put the lid on the pot and turn off the heat. Leave for about 20 minutes.
